Community guidelines

Effective November 2026

The Smart Parent is a place for parents to ask questions, share what they have learned and support each other. These guidelines keep it safe and kind for everyone. By using the app you agree to follow them, together with our Terms and Conditions.

Be kind and respectful

Every family is different. Share your experience without judging others.

• No insults, harassment, bullying or threats.
• No hate speech or discrimination of any kind.
• No offensive language. Questions, responses, comments and stories with words our filter catches are held for a moderator before anyone else sees them, and private messages with them are not sent.

Keep children safe

Never share anything that could put a child at risk.

• No sexual content of any kind, and nothing that sexualises or endangers a child. We report it to the authorities.
• Think twice before posting photos of children, and never share a child's full name, school or address.

Health and safety

Answers from other parents are experiences, not medical advice. For anything about your child's health, speak to a doctor or nurse. In an emergency, go to the nearest hospital or call emergency services straight away.

• Don't present yourself as a health professional if you are not one.
• Don't promote dangerous or unproven treatments.

Be honest and genuine

• No spam, advertising, selling or links to make money.
• No fake accounts or pretending to be someone else.
• Stories must be your own work. Don't copy other people's writing.

Respect privacy

• Don't share other people's personal information or private messages without their permission.
• Your email, phone number and date of birth are never shown to other parents in your posts.

How we keep the community safe

Moderators review content held by the word filter and content that parents report. When several people report the same question or response, it is hidden until a moderator has looked at it.

• Report anything that breaks these guidelines from its menu (⋮).
• Block anyone you don't want to hear from. They can't message you, and you won't see their posts.
• Moderators may remove content and suspend accounts that break these guidelines. If you think we made a mistake, contact us.

Writers

Anyone can apply to write stories. A new writer's stories are reviewed by an admin before they are published. Writers with a record of published, well-liked stories publish straight away, but every story must still follow these guidelines.
